    Page Speed Audit

Get specific, actionable, ranked page speed recommendations for your site.

Page speed affects every aspect of the digital marketing stack as it is the founding layer. It impacts conversion rates, bounce rates, time on site, search rankings, user experience, revenue, social media, and PPC.

Our page speed audit is a one-time in-depth review of your site’s performance. When it’s complete, you have a detailed report with clearly defined next steps and a consultation with a specialist to ensure your understanding of all the recommendations.

    Here’s how it works:

    Step 1. Pick 3 pages

We coordinate with you to pick 3 important pages on your site. These usually are some combination of the following:

    • Homepage
    • Hub, article listing, or product category page
    • Single service, product, or blog page

    Step 2. Technical audit

We run the 3 chosen pages through a litany of testing tools, including but not limited to:

    • Chrome developer tools
    • Lighthouse
    • PageSpeed Insights
    • Webpagetest.org
    • Pingdom
    • GTMetrix
    • Redbot

    Step 3. HTML source analysis

We dig into the source code on all of the pages. We look for issues that aren’t found by automated tools, like:

    • Duplicate title and header tags
    • Duplicate analytics and 3rd party scripts
    • Multiple jQuery library includes
    • Large in-line styles and scripts

    Step 4. Response headers

We analyze the response headers of your pages and the assets loaded on those pages. We look for issues that may be happening on the server, like cache misses, keep-alives, expires headers, etc.

    Step 5. Recommendations and Report

We pull together all our findings and build a thoroughly report of recommendations, ranked by importance and difficulty of implementation. We provide very specific examples including:

    • Assets that require browser caching directives
    • Image optimization and compression
    • Page size
    • Time to first byte
    • Render-blocking resources and solution options
    • CDN usage
    • JavaScript execution time
    • Code coverage
    • HTTP/2 usage
    • Next-gen imagery
    • DOM size
    • Font loading

If preferred, we will deliver optimized assets like images, CSS, and JavaScript.

    Step 6. Review

A specialist consults with you and your team, reviewing the report, and answering questions. We recommend including your developers, content, and marketing team members to this meeting, as it is as much a mini-training as it is a review. We will support your team in ensuring they’re able to execute the recommendations provided.
